POINT OF VIEW!!! IN DEFENCE OF BUHARI AND THE LIMITATION OF RULE OF LAW By Ahmed Ayanfe
✍A discourse on Nigeria democracy brewed between I and a colleague at work some weeks back where we discussed on corruption among other things holding Nigeria back. I was not surprised when he said he prefer a military government that abhor indiscipline and can bypass the law of the land to nail corrupt individuals that have formed a parallel government (cabals) and hold the country as ransom for their own selfish political and economic aggrandizement to the modern slavery being parkaged as democracy.
✍I partially concurred with him because the constitution and rule of law that this corrupt individuals always use as a shield to perpetrate their sinister activities has been turned to a cobweb that can only hold light objects (commonmen) while it breaks the moment it sight heavy objects (cabals).
✍Yes! I have written series of articles to criticise Buhari failing administration but have never for once chastise him for undermining the rule of law (even though he has disobeyed some court judgements that favour the accused, Nnamdi Kanu and Dasuki as examples)
✍Another abuse of the Rule of Law is the recent invasion of the houses of two justices of the supreme court; Justice Walter Onnoghen and sylvester Ngwuta- as well as two judges of the federal hight courts, Justice Adeniyi Ademola and Nnamdi Dimgba by the operatives of the Department of State Service,DSS for alleged corrupt practices. Millions of dollars was recovered from the houses of some of the judges.
✍To many, the development was seen as outrageous, violation of Rule of Law and a slap in the face of the third arm of government.
✍But can we really crucify Buhari for such authoritarian disposition? My answer is No!.
✍My reason being that the judiciary that is expected to be ths last resort and hope of the commonmen has been hijacked, polarised and tainted by some invisible cabals and devilish people of high calibres. These judges grant injunctions, postponement and auction justice for the highest bidders.
✍We are in a country where judgement can be bought with ordinary phone call from some invisible cabals.
✍We all witness how James Ibori, a former governor charged with 101counts of corruption was released by a court in Nigeria but subsequently jailed for the same crimes in a foreign Land. Alison Madueke trial is another noticeable instance. Melo lafe ka ninu eyin adipele!
✍Isn't it ironical and pathetic that an arm of government that should check the activities of the executive and legislative arm is being run with little or no check?. Incase you don't know, a corrupt judiciary is dangerous than all politicians and arm robbers put together.
✍Democracy can only be strengthen and enjoyed when the judiciary is sanitised and free from justice auctioneers. Hence, I support the clean up in whatever forms.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
