LBS: AMP CLASS 26 SUPPORTS LEKKI COMMUNITY GRAMMAR SCHOOL

An Alumni Set of Lagos Business School has stressed the need to complement the efforts of government at all levels by giving back to the society. The Chairman, Committee for Charity Board of the Advance Management Programme, Class 26, Lagos Business School, Dimeji Olona, made this known at the Adoption and Commissioning of a set of furniture donated to Lekki Community High School, Lekki, Lagos. Olona, who is also a General Manager, LASACO Group, said the project was meant to enhance friendly learning environment and improve students' performance. The Chairman of the Alumni of Class 26, Advance Management Programme  expressed commitment by the Set to support the School and the Education Sector in the State to complement the efforts of the government. He highlighted other projects to be undertaken by the Set as part of its Social Responsibility to include, training on Financial Education, Annual Excursion for the students, among others. MUSLIMS PRAYS FOR PEACE IN NIGERIA

Muslims have joined hands to pray for peace to reign before, during and after February elections. The prayer which was organized by the Joint Muslim Forum and Muslim Community of Lagos state initiative today, centered on peaceful co-existence and unity among various parties and groups in Nigeria. Addressing the congregation, Former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Lagos State University, Nojeem Jumah said the position of power was ordained from Allah and it should be used for the comfort and benefit of the people. He thereby urged Muslims  to use the opportunity given to them by Allah to choose their leaders by voting for the right person.

YAYI CALLS FOR LAGOSIANS SUPPORTS

Lagos West Senatorial Candidate for All Progressives Congress, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has called for support from Lagosians to represent them at the Upper Chamber in next Month's elections. Adeola, made this known today at the "Meet the Press Forum" organised by Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lagos Council at Ikeja. He stressed the need for a competent and experienced candidate to lead the Lagos West, the Largest Senatorial District in the State. According to him, having served at the Federal House of Representatives and currently the Chairman, Finance and Appropriation Committee, he is capable of moving Lagos forward at the local level. Adeola, also challenged the transformation agenda proclaimed by the ruling party which had not been translated to the lives of people at the grassroots. He listed Revenue sharing Formula, Proper Implementation of Budget, Constituency Projects among other issues he would address, if voted as Senator.

AMBODE PROMISES DEVELOPMENTS IN ALL RAMIFICATION

Lagos State Government has been urged to amend the law establishing the Lagos State University, Ojo with a view to converting it to a residential institution by building hostels for them. The interim chairman, Academic Staff Union of University LASU chapter, Comrade Sawanu Asokere told Newsdeskblogspot.com that this would allow the students to attend lectures promptly Asokere said being a non residential institution, those students who lived far away from the university campus normally found it pretty difficult to get to school on time because of traffic log jam besides they were sometimes fatigues when they got to school. PRESIDENT ON CLOSE DOOR MEETING WITH GOVERNORS

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met behind closed doors with governors of the North-East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe. The meeting which was aimed at finding a lasting solution to the insurgency in that part of the country was also attended by security chiefs and relevant ministers. All those who spoke with State House correspondents at the end of the meeting expressed the hope that elections would hold in the troubled parts of the country next month despite the violence there. They however said the need for the deployment of more troops to the troubled areas ahead of the elections formed part of discussion at the meeting. I AM A SAINT - BABANGIDA

Former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd), has said he should be regarded as a saint given the level of corruption that pervades the Nigerian society today. Babangida also scored himself high in the management of the economy during the eight-year period of his administration, claiming that he actually worked hard to end the menace of corruption rather than promote it. According to Babangida, those who held contrary opinion about the activities of his regime did so out of ignorance of what he did while in office.
